TOEFL for Dentists: Score Requirements for CAAPID & Advanced Standing
If you earned your dental degree outside the United States and you are applying to an advanced standing DDS or DMD program through ADEA CAAPID, the TOEFL iBT is usually the English requirement standing between you and the application. This page covers what each program asks for, how the new 1–6 scale changes it, and where clinicians typically lose points.

Where clinicians actually lose points
The TOEFL is a general academic English test. Being fluent with patients does not predict your score, and this is where that gap usually shows up.
